Angela Houghton, MA, is manager of audience research in AARP Research where she leads a team delivering insights on key 50+ consumer audience segments to drive AARPs enterprise strategy.
The teams portfolio includes racial and ethnic populations, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, veterans, women, and other sociodemographic groups.
Her role includes managing primary research and secondary data analysis from conceptualization to insight delivery; as well as providing subject matter expertise on survey research methods, data interpretation, and research communications for diverse populations.
Angela also supports a research agenda on health and wealth equity that aims to eliminate disparities in aging based on race, ethnicity, and other sociodemographic factors.
As a champion for equity in research and data, Angela pursues innovative solutions for more inclusive and representative data through consultation, convenings, conference speaking, strategic partnerships, and publishing of original research.
Prior to coming to AARP in 2011, Angela worked for a global research supplier (now Ipsos) managing large-scale, multinational consumer research projects in Latin America, Europe, Asia and U.S. Hispanic markets.
Angela received a masters in international business from the University of South Carolina and a bachelors in English literature from Louisiana State University.
