In The Wild

One reporter bravely spends the lunch rush at a Midtown location of the fast-casual chain.

Heres what she found.

Its a Monday afternoon in New York, and Im at Chipotle during the lunch rush.

One brave reporter spent 90 minutes with the Chipotle Boys during the Monday lunch rush.

Im surrounded by a sea of men clad in button-downs and black trousers, firmly connected to their AirPods.

Swaths of what the Internet is calling Chipotle Boys abound as far as the eye can see.

Whats a Chipotle Boy?

Without any extras like guacamole or chips, a classic Chipotle chicken, steak, or al pastor burrito …

They opt for convenience over novelty, speed over style.

Perhaps a federal program.

(Representatives maintainsizes have remained the same.)

“Chipotle boys are gym boys."

Take it from John, 24, a self-proclaimed huge Chipotle advocate who works in finance.

Its simple, its somewhat cheap, and its quick, John says.

After all, who needs variety when you have the intoxicating promise of optimization?

More often than not, I eat it at my desk.

Perhaps then, for some, Chipotle acts as a beacon of hope?

Jake*, 30, is a trainer who recommends the chain to his clients interested in counting macros.

Gym boys tend to be Chipotle Boys, he says.

Its too fire not to have it every single time, he toldGQ Sportsin December.

They enjoy taking psychedelics in the desert and talking about their summer abroad.

When asked what he likes more than the chain, he named his girlfriend and hiking.

I really f*cking love Chipotle, he says.

Some days, I just have too much going on to cook, he says.

Theres nothing more to it.

It begs the question: Where is their lust for life?

I order a chicken bowl with a side tortilla.

When he sees the Chipotle Boy post, he laughs and says he feels exposed.

I do eat here quite frequently, he says.

It makes me wonder if I should be shaking it up and getting a new personality.
