Ive played so many detectives in my career [and] it was very, very straightforward.

[This character] is a lot more multifaceted.

Have you had time to explore the area?

Part of its catching up on sleep, for sure.

I dont know why suddenly I get a big old kick out of that, but I do.

Doing things like laundry.

Its certainly not New York City, but it is its own beast, and its absolutely beautiful here.

Today its snowing, so its even more gorgeous.

Were you surprised when they brought back the originalLaw & Order?

And were you interested in revising your character?

Oh, I loved [Law & Ordercharacter] Ed Green.

He was the man for a long time.

And I really appreciate that somebodys willing to still take me in and let me do my thing.

Im super grateful for it.

I wasnt sure if I had any real interest in going back to that space.

I certainly loved working with the people, particularlyS.

Epatha Merkerson[who played Lt. Anita Van Buren].

Id do anything to work with her again, in any capacity.

Who were your acting inspirations?

My mentor is [stage, TV and film actor] Stephen McKinley Henderson.

I was absolutely amazed, mesmerized by this man.

And he has for years.

Hes still my guy.

Hes been doing the thing for a really, really long time.

He was my first real inspiration.
